Essay Title: The Effects Bullying Can Have On Children

a. Hook: Bullying is becoming a worldwide problem and research shows that aside from the bully and the victim other participants may be present that could be contributing to such behavior.

b. Additional background information: While the commonness of bullying differs, some reviews suggest that 20-25% of children who engage in bullying others, are they themselves victims of the same abuse. (Juvonen & Graham, 2014)

Bullying in children is a major issue and knowing what is going on in the home, how deep it is affecting their mental and physical state, and their school participation is an important factor in knowing what we can do to make a difference

Studies are showing that they way a parent may discipline, communicate, supervise, could all be major risk factors that could have an involvement on a child’s bullying behavior against others.

As parents, it is important to influence proper social behavior by being more involved and having open communication about bullying behavior with our children to help manage and prevent victimization.

Some findings demonstrate that the importance of recognizing other people involvement towards children differs on the influence that it may have on their aggressive behavior towards others.

The importance in knowing the parents role in a child’s life is crucial to the capacity in being able to form effective relationships with others and managing other problems such as bullying which can effect the child’s social skills and emotional control in all situations.

a. Topic sentence for this third sub-topic:
Children who are bullied in school can have a major effect on their learning abilities and their participation which can result in failure, dropping out, and can even have episodes of indiscipline.

“ Children who are victims often miss school, have poor academic growth, and demonstrate insecurity when in public and prefer to not engage with their peers.

Difficulties in school that are related to the students also show other behavioral and emotional problems. Children with learning disabilities and behavioral problems are generally less likely to more involved in their school work as they think they will be involved in school bulling.”(J Hum Growth Dev. 2017)

Results show that children who are involved in school bullying have a much lower chance at succeeding academically and may show signs of social and emotional issues.

This world wide phenomenon has major effects on children’s lives and how they associate with others. Our involvement differs on their well being and how they will react with their peers by helping them form positive relationships and decreasing any behavioral issues.

Parents should keep in mind the importance of having a supportive home environment, to protect any mental and physical issues the child may develop, to assure their academic success.

c. Final remarks:
Children who are victims of school bullying can have long lasting effects. Parent child relationships are crucial in a child’s development in every aspect as they interact with those around them.
