This week’s reading of Frankenstein switches gears just a bit and gives readers a new and different view of the events in the novel. After reading the assigned chapters, you will compose a short argumentative essay response in favor of or against the creation of a second creature. Keep in mind both Victor’s reasons for not wanting to do it as well as the creature’s reasons for wanting it. Support your argument with textual details from the novel. Ideas to consider – or questions to think about – while reading this week: Why does the creature blame his malicious and murderous actions on loneliness? What does the creature think will cure his loneliness? What other ways might the creature have found to alleviate his loneliness? What does the creature realize is the cause of his loneliness?
