The paper should be AT LEAST five double-spaced pages, not including the Works Cited page. Try to not go over six pages of text. Sources MUST be credible and you must use (and cite) at least five. Include concessions to indicate points upon which you and the other side can agree. These are normally answered with counterarguments/refutations. (Example: “Even though it’s true that blah, blah, blah, that is outweighed by blah, blah, blah, and here is why…..”) It’s common for a concession/counterargument paragraph to come right after the introduction and thesis, and then the writer moves right on into the rest of the argument. Sometimes a few counterarguments are part of the main argument itself. Sometimes counterarguments come after the main support for the argument. ARguing that prisoners should be allowed to vote.
