ESSAY Write an essay of at least 1000 words on one of the following topics (not both): 1. Show (by using at least 3 different examples) how crime is useful to society. OR 2. Read the article “The uses of poverty: The poor pay it all” under chapter 1. Concentrate on four functions and demonstrate them with examples. Cite the sources of your examples. You need at least four references for the essay. You must use four different references (excluding the book). You will cite your sources in your text using parenthetical references and also at the end of your paper using a WORKS CITED PAGE (Links to an external site.). You may use either APA (Links to an external site.) or MLA (Links to an external site.) style of documentation. No need for an abstract nor a cover page. Do not worry about formatting when you paste it. Parenthetical references are brief references, enclosed by parentheses, within the text of your paper. They refer the reader to your WORKS CITED PAGE.
