5-slide PPT presentation centered on (1) article citation in APA-style, (2) research study purpose, (3) at least two key background literature, supporting articles cited in the RA and specifically what each contributed to the study – background, purpose, study design, etc., (4) key components of the study methodology/design – subjects, instruments for data collection, procedures to collect data, and plan for data analysis and (5) the primary conclusions/findings of the study (which relate to study’s purpose). Task: Identify the research question/problem, compile a relevant literature review, and propose a methodology to answer it. Utilization of APA-style is expected throughout. Part One – Background/Need for the proposed research study. This should include at least four (4) sources from the literature reviewed and summarize how each source contributed to the need for the study you are proposing to conduct. The literature review is not a string of summaries but a coherent rationale for leading up to reason for the proposed study. Part Two – Study Purpose. Your background/need should lead to a concise statement of the study’s purpose. The purpose of the study may be written as a question to be answered, but should be stated clearly and objectively and provide a clear path toward resolution. Questions/problems can be technical, historical, philosophical, attitudinal, descriptive, etc., but they must be stated in a form that either asks a particular question or states a hypothesis to be supported or rejected. Part Three – Study Design/Methodology. This must include at least two (2) sources from the literature reviewed that provided you a format for answering your research question. Examples of contributions from the literature may include data collection instruments, subject selection procedures, data collection protocol, and treatment procedures. Each student, through their literature search and defined by the nature of their proposed study, will present a coherent path toward answering the question. (Your path may replicate another study’s design.) This likely will involve collection of data, information, or some other quantitative process. The question can be addressed qualitatively, as well, but the procedure must clearly state the steps to be taken toward resolution, including how the data or information is to be analyzed.
