Take two portions of your corpus, other than those used in Week Two, and create two visualizations of each. For example, use two visualization types (i.e., Word Tree, Tag Cloud, or Word Cloud Generator) on corpus selection A and then use the same two visualization types on corpus selection B. You may also wish to use a comparative visualization type for corpus selections A and B in case of Tag Cloud visualization type, where you can view them by using the “compare” checkbox. Compare corpus selection A and B, interpreting the similarities and differences that are revealed. Depending on your original corpus, you may need to change selections A and B to a different version, such as a table or a phrase set, in order to work with a particular visualization type. For example, in 2009, a person studied tweets on Iranian elections. After collecting them, he created a Word Cloud with them and then a Phrase Net. Take a look at his visualized analysis: Iranian Election Tweet Narrative (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. Voyant Instructions: Paste the text and click on Reveal. On the next page, on the left-hand side, you will see a visualization of your text. Below, you will see a summary of word frequency and other features. Make sure to click on More to see more of the summary. If you click on a visualized word on the visualization, you will see a graph appear on the right hand side showing the frequency level of the word in the text. Write a paper on the visual experiments on your corpus organized into five sections: Introduction – Describe corpus selections A and B, why they were chosen, the two visualization types you chose to apply on each of them, and why you chose those two visualization types over others. Methods – Detail your use of two visualization types on each of corpus selections A and B. Describe the step by step process of inputting and experimenting with the visualization tools and types. Were special steps necessary to prepare or transform your text? Refer to the labeled visualizations inserted at the end of the paper, for example: (Figure 1). Results – Refer to the labeled illustrations inserted at the end of the paper, for example: (Figure 2). What did the resulting illustration make clear, and what did it omit or obscure? Analysis – Include images of and/or link to at least two resulting visualizations, and describe and interpret the results in prose. Did one kind of visualization type serve the needs of your chosen corpus better than the other? How would you relate the resulting visualizations of corpus selections A and B to the highlights/main points of your entire corpus for this course? You may need to refer to the labeled illustrations at the end of the paper, for example: (Figure 2) Conclusion – Summarize the main points of the paper. Comment on which visualization tool and what visualization type was difficult or easy to perform. Insert all visualizations at the end of the paper. If not possible, provide links. Label all illustrations and links as Figure 1, 2, 3, etc. at the end of the paper and use the labeling to refer to them in the paper. The text of each of corpus selections A and B inputted for visualizations should be labeled as such and included at the end of the paper after illustrations. The paper should be three to five pages in length, excluding the title page, references, illustrations, and corpus selection texts. It must include a descriptive title, and all aspects of the paper must be formatted to APA style.
