Instructions from syllabus: You are required to complete two 7 page essays related to important concepts, practices, developments, strategies, or issues related to political communication as presented in the course readings or lectures. Papers should show how the practice, strategy, issue, etc. relates to the concept of deliberation, the First Amendment, significant choice, OR the argument culture. For example, you could write about: defamation as related to political communication, deceptive political ads, recent developments in campaign finance as related to communication, the effects of a debate or a debate event, a particularly effective speech or speech strategy, a common journalism practice in covering campaigns, a social media strategy, etc. You should then show how this phenomenon enhances, degrades, illustrates or otherwise relates to one of the major concepts: deliberation, the First Amendment, significant, choice, or the argument culture. For each essay you should have at least 6 authoritative and credible references, primarily academic journals and books, aside from the textbook. Do not use Wikipedia or the D2L notes as sources. Please include a cover page and a reference list, but these do not count as part of the page totals. Use APA style and double space, with 1-inch margins all around.
