Speech 3: Partner Speech (70 points for speech script + 30 points for delivery + 10 for manuscript w/ delivery notes) Length: 6-7 minutes. Purpose: To construct a persuasive speech for your partner with the purpose of gaining adherence for some mission/activity/event/fundraising effort important to your partner. You will work closely with another person (or persons) to learn about an issue/organization/cause that they care about. After interviewing your partner and completing independent investigation and research you will act as their speechwriter, to construct a persuasive speech about Pro-choice for them to deliver in class. Key points to consider: • The persuasive speech you write should use Monroe’s Motivated Sequence. • You will be graded on 1) your speechwriting (ability to use the interview process to construct a speech that is not only well suited to your partner, but also a speech that is well researched/organized/worded) and 2) your delivery of the speech written for you by your partner. • Speech manuscripts/outlines are due to me one class period prior to presentations, so speakers will have time to practice with the written manuscript. • This speech will be delivered via manuscript or outline (speaker’s choice depending on the speaking situation). • A full copy of your manuscript or outline with delivery notes must be turned after you give your speech.
