Essay: 1000-1500 words, Times New Roman, 12-font, double-spaced Points: 100 Imagine: The City of Tulsa, has decided that Tulsa needs a museum devoted exclusively to Ancient Greek art and architecture, and funds are unlimited! This will be one of the biggest projects ever to hit Tulsa, Oklahoma. Proposals are being taken, and the city’s Ancient Greek Museum Task Force is accepting them from EVERYONE, including college students. Assignment: Create a proposal describing which of the most significant figurative sculpture to include in the museum, as well as suggest what building features you would like to see included in the architecture of the museum itself. 1. Propose the principal works to include in the sculptural content of the museum (75 points). Include one work (figurative, freestanding sculpture) from each period – Geometric; Archaic; Classical; Late Classical, & Hellenistic. Include the title, style period and date, and a description of the work, using vocabulary studied in your textbook and in class. Explain the art historical significance of each chosen piece (how does each exemplify the stylistic contributions of that particular period?). Also, consider the temperament of the figurative sculpture — serene? introspective? sorrowful? dramatic? Use descriptive terminology, and define it, too. Look at the proportions of the figures, too. 2. Propose the building structure (25 points) that will house your collection. What would it look like? What architectural features from each period would you include?
