This is an analytical paper in which you provide a background overview of a public policy area and argue for a suggested course of action to accomplish your favoured policy, with reference to the relevant public policy literature from the subject and your own research. You may use the same policy area as in your first assignment, but now you need to do an analysis of policy (rather than an analysis for policy). That is, your analysis should focus on how to make your recommended policy politically feasible, for instance, by making systematic use of a theoretical framework related to agenda-setting, formulation, or implementation. The main aim is to link theory and practice. The assignment will be assessed against the following criteria: • Background • Development and discussion of the argument • Structure of the presentation • Demonstrated understanding of the relevant literature • Demonstrated independent research • Correct referencing, using a consistent system • Presentation clarity and mechanics. A consistent referencing system is to be used for your final paper, such as the Harvard style.
