The ties between globalization and culture are complex, making it exceptionally difficult to consider ethical solutions to complex social conflicts. As a first step in developing your own ethical views on globalization and culture, take a position on the question of a common human culture or a diverse one. Should we favor cultural unity or cultural diversity? Does unity serve as a cover for the exercise of power? Or is it necessary for a sense of a shared human mission? Is diversity a form of cultural tolerance or is it a form of othering? And, are the ideas of diversity and unity necessarily opposed?
