In this essay you are expected to identify and describe the individual’s leadership style and indicate why it is effective, ineffective, relevant to the task at hand, or any other considerations worthy of commentary. The choice of leader is entirely up to you but cannot be combined with another colleague in your team. Inclusion of elements of leadership factors studied thus far in class is encouraged. ESSAY FORMAT a. Cover sheet: Name, title of essay, course, date, reasonable graphics; b. Executive summary (1 page) – Executive summaries are a brief description (frequently with 3-4 bullet points) that highlights the major theme or themes of the brief to be discussed. It is designed to incent the reader to read the article and add to the readers’ ability to make rational decisions based upon what you write. The executive 4 summary is usually written after the essay. Please see the end of this syllabus for an example of an Executive Summary; c. The essay: 3 pages (12-font / double spaced). Make sure that you number and staple the pages; d. Paragraphs: Business writing insists on simplicity, clarity, and a focus on the point of the paper, with supporting commentary.
