For this assignment, you will interview a professional who works within an industry or job type that you aspire to have yourself after graduation. The interview must be conducted in real time (NOT through text-based correspondence). An in-person interview is preferred, but video conferencing and phone interviews are acceptable as well. The goal is to learn about the person’s work duties, their background that brought them to their current position, and how you can take steps to propel yourself in the direction of your desired occupation. You are encouraged to be strategic in your interviewee selection and seek out someone who may be a great contact when applying for an internship or job. Shoot for the stars – don’t hesitate to seek out someone who is a leader in their field. If you are highly professional in your correspondence, this assignment offers the opportunity to reach out and impress someone! They are busy people, so ask the individual for 15-20 minutes of their time (although often you may develop a natural rapport with your interviewee and go a bit longer).
