The length of the report, excluding appendices, must not exceed 5 pages. The report must conform to business standards. It should include an introduction, specific research question(s), literature review, results &/or analyses, and conclusions &/or discussion sections. Ideally, the paper will contain some simple quantitative analysis as well. This can usually be derived from Statistics Canada sources, and/or Federal or Provincial Government Publications. Also consider OCED or Conference Board of Canada reports, or reports from your favourite ‘think tank’. The literature review should be based primarily on academic sources, and include a range of different views. As a general rule, at least 5 relevant academic sources (i.e. journal articles or books) should be used, at a minimum. The report should be an analysis of your issue, not a description! Try hard to include at least one small table, chart, or figure in the body of the paper. This is a way to highlight key findings or analysis. It should also help you with your presentation too. That said, YOU MUST NOT COLLECT PRIMARY DATA!! A good place to find article with stats that can be customized for your report is StatCan’s ‘Perspectives on Labour and Income’ journal
