Our current Myth on Western Expansion is in flux. The simple romantic notions of heroic cowboys and rugged frontiersman who won the day by civilizing a savage land is being questioned. Certainly writers like Cormac McCarthy want to complicate our understanding of our Western past, but what should our Western Myth become as we move into the 21st century?
