This week’s portion of the case assignment deals with evaluating the company’s strategic decision making considering internal and external factors. Most of you know this by its acronym – the SWOT analysis. You need to identify the company’s internal strengths and determine how these strengths represent a competitive advantage over their competitors. The same is true about the company’s internal weaknesses and how they are hindering crating a competitive advantage. Next is about looking at the impact of external factors on the business. Are there opportunities that the company has not yet capitalized on the can help create future success? Are there potential threats to the company’s success that they have not yet recognized? Strategic goals must also be identified and explained, if this has not been provided already. A chart of three major competitors and products and/or services must be provided. Finally, industry data needs be investigated to determine where does this company fit within the industry, alongside competitors and rivals in the industry.
