You will research information that deals with issues, problems, trends, and the future outlook for your industry of interest based on your major. This is NOT an exploration of a particular major or job, so do not just tell me about the day-to-day job of an accountant or human resource specialist or restaurant owner, etc. You will use Porter’s Five Forces Model of Industry Analysis that we will be discussing early on in the semester as part of your work. So if for example you desire to go into banking, you would research the banking industry. Same for accounting, fashion, restaurants, etc. Note- “Entrepreneur” is not an industry. If you desire to start an entrepreneurial venture—restaurant, clothing store, cleaning service, whatever—that is the industry you are to look at. This can include a small component of the job outlook for this industry/career field as well, but it should not be the focus. It is not a company analysis, and it is not just a 5 Forces analysis. This should be a well-developed and comprehensive look at your industry field of interest. This report of approximately three to five pages in length should include academic research sources as well as reliable business publications and research centers primarily. You are required to cite at least five sources. All sources should be no older than five years to maintain relevant information and available data. All sources should of course be referenced accurately and consistently as well. You should use standard APA formatting for your report. Graded on 100 point scale with 5 points per day late penalty, worth 15% of your final grade. You will submit this as a Word .docx or .pdf within the assignment posted on Canvas.
