Homework 5: Gender and language: Dude Adequate reports will probably be at least 2 pages, depending on the format you use for reporting your data. The assignment is due in class on Tuesday, April 26. Listen for the next 4 occurrences of the use of the word “Dude” in interactions around you or in which you participate. Write down the entire utterance as best you can remember it (you should carry a small notebook so you can do this). Record the gender and ethnicity of the speaker and addressee(s), the relationship between them, and the nature of the situation and speech event.
