Posting 1 According to the Feminist Philosophies they point out that even though race is socially attached to particular bodies, that is particular phenotypes, there is no biological basis for race. Thus race is a complex, socially mediated construct that orders society, marginalizes people and is used to justify economic, educational and medical inequalities. According to Encyclopedia of American Cultural and Intellectual history the term “ethnicity” gained widespread currency only in the mid- to late twentieth century. The Ethnic culture also came to be defined as the set of material objects uniquely utilized by a particular ethnic group, so that ethnic goods became synonymous with the people who were members of that group or who practiced that culture. According to Dictionary of visual discourse the existence of culture came (from the Latin colo, colere, cultum, cultura, to cultivate the soil). Of course the nodal word ‘culture’ is as multifaceted as the processes it references. As a multidimensional term, ‘culture’ needs to be defined historically, sociologically, epistemologically and, perhaps, metaphysically. Culture is an nature and identity of a whole way of life of a people (including a society’s knowledge, customs, values, beliefs, modes of perception, traditions and artifacts). ‘ I would say that race and ethnicity is different because race a socially constructed component to identify people by their physical features, where ethnicity identifies people by point of origin place where we was born at. According to the text, social and economic inequality are wrapped or intertwined with race and ethnicity. We see in the text not all races or ethnic backgrounds have had the same American experience.
