A variety of factors contribute to life expectancy and aging. Nutrition, medical treatment, exercise, socioeconomic status, and safety are just a few. People must take care of themselves and do their best to create the healthiest environments to promote longevity. Not only is it important to live a long life, but a healthy one that a person can enjoy to the fullest. Average healthy life expectancy is the number of years a person born in a particular year can expect to live in full health, without disease or injury (Berk, 2010). Many elderly people live longer, but are disabled or ill. The possibility was raised that we could be increasing the length of poor quality life but not good-quality life (Crimmins, Yuan & Yasuhiko, 2016). As a result, it is important that researchers continue to find ways to ensure longevity and good health in order for people age well.
