Part one: The Josephson Institute has developed “The Dirty Dozen” or rather 12 rationalizations we often use to justify our behavior or the behavior of another. Please choose one scenario and answer the questions below. Scenario 1: Select two of the dirty dozen and highlight examples within your own life where you have allowed leaders to do “the not right thing” based off of these rationalizations. OR Scenario 2: Select two of the dirty dozen and highlight examples within your own life where you were the leader who might have used these rationalizations to justify your actions. Questions: Briefly explain your two rationalizations with your examples. How could the Dirty Dozen influence your future ethical choices as a follower or leader? Please pick one of the individuals listed in the NPR interview of James Stewart (Author of Tangled Web) and describe which rationalization your selected person used of the Dirty Dozen. Use relevant theory to support your main points. (A page long) (will provide links after hiring) Part two: The student will write an ethical critique of a film discussed in the text or a film of the student’s choosing. Using major ethical theories in the text the student will analyze the ethical dilemma(s) of the major character, and then analyze ways in which the dilemma is resolved. This critique should include the way in which the student thinks the dilemma should have been resolved integrating ethical theories (i.e. ethical relativism, Kant’s Deontology, Utilitarianism, egoism, and theories of virtue) as well as learned leadership approaches (from Dion’s 8 Approaches or Leadership Centric Approaches within Price- Chapter 4). Please keep in mind that some characters will exhibit several ethical traits. Only write about dominate ethical trait(s). All assertions must be substantiated with properly referenced evidence. Any comments from text or other sources must be cited using APA 6th Ed. style. (4.5 pages)
