Based on the textbook, there are a number of choices available for data storage—optical, solid state, magnetic, and cloud-based storage—each has pros and cons, and each has its most suitable application areas. The storage solution you select can also have impacts on how you will protect your data from thieves and hackers, power outage, fire, or natural disasters. Respond to the following: • Suppose you are working as an IT professional, or any job that requires you to use different information technologies on a daily basis. Now you are going to purchase storage devices for your job purposes. Please describe the consideration of selecting storage solutions based on the evaluating factors described on pages 2–35. Your job content and the purposes of using the storage device can be based on your real-world experience, or you may search the Internet and come up with fictitious job content (Web designer? Database administrator? Software programmer?). Please also tell us the amount of storage you need as well as how much you are planning to spend on it. • Present your selections and discuss the rationale and pros and cons of your new selections with regard to your job content. Be creative! • Discuss how your data will be secured using your storage solution.
