The purpose of this assignment is for you to apply what you have learned in class to your life. In this process you will select 2-3 recommendations to follow for one consecutive week. You will record your diet and activity in Diet Analysis program. The main goal is for YOU to meet the recommendations that you have outlined to the best of your ability. You may find it helpful to incorporate what you learned from the 72 hour food diary, no sugar and other assignments. Here is the outline you will follow for the assignment (please use the provided section titles in your paper): 1) Introduction/Problem Statement: Here you will identify the problem and explain why you have chosen this food behavior to modify. For example, high sugar intake leads to cardiovascular disease. As you explain the “why” identify personal experiences and/or experiences that you have witnessed in others that support your reasons for change. Here, you are focusing on connecting these experiences to the theories (recommendations) we have discussed in class. You will utilize at least three supporting references (peer reviewed) in this section. [1 page] 2) Plan of action/Solution: Here you will outline your plan on how you will execute the solution you have come up with. This will include the recommendations you selected and your detailed plan on how you will follow them. In addition to the straightforward food plan, students will have the opportunity to address the psychological/ social aspects of food. For this aspect, here are a few questions to think about: how will this change affect your, peers, relationships, psyche, emotional comfort etc.? Are there identified barriers to your success in making this change? If so, how will you achieve success? You will utilize at least three supporting references (peer reviewed) in this section that come from a different discipline (i.e. Psychology, sociology etc.) [1-2 page] 3) Results: How did it go? Did the solution/plan of action that you established lead to success? What areas did you excel in; what areas need improvement; and why did you experience success or set back. If you were to do this assignment again, given this experience, what would you change? How could you improve on your plan of action to enhance the solution and change you are looking for? [1-2 page] Final paper: Your final paper should consist of all the above components along with the reports form the Diet Analysis Program. Most importantly, I have to see what you ate. Paper should be typed, double spaced, free from grammar/ spelling errors, and be in APA format. Paper should reflect thought and effort.
