You will write a 4 to 5-page (double-spaced) essay discussing the role of slavery in the Texas War. Your essay must contain the following:

1. An introduction in which you clearly state the main topic of your paper. This should be followed by an outline that presents how the essay is organized. Remember, in the remainder of the essay, you must develop the points mentioned in the introduction.
2. Enough context about Mexico after its wars for independence. You can use our textbook to write this context.
3. Based on the works by Josefina Zoraida Vázquez and Paul D. Lack discuss describe how the challenges confronted by the Mexican political elite during the transition from a Viceroyalty to a federal and central republic, along with their position on slavery, threatened Mexico’s geographic integrity and independence itself.
4. Based on the works by Josefina Zoraida Vázquez and Paul D. Lack discuss the arguments that Texans used to justify their independence from Mexico.
5. The conclusion must include the main findings of the essay and/or questions that may need further research.
